The Swedish love of an intellectual good time is exemplified in gorgeous Fredrika. Often seen on the arm of the Duke of Värmland, Fredrika loves nothing better than to discuss literature, and is a huge August Strindberg fan. She was a personal friend of Ingmar Bergman who offered her a walk on part in The Seventh Seal which she eventually declined because Ingmar wanted her to wear a collar, which she felt would have been inauthentic and unfaithful to the period. In Stockholm a party is not an A-lister unless Fredrika is there. She’s very demure, still, like a moving old master.

Not one for the instant soundbite, her take on Dogs’ Ears is characteristally profound, ‘There’s nothing I can say here that will change anything. To quote August Strindberg: “I loathe people who keep dogs. They are cowards who haven’t got the guts to bite people themselves.”‘
